Another parable: The old man who chops wood

You did so well with the first parable. Here's another. Again, the idea is to look at the picture and ask the Lord to show you what the spiritual application is. Clear your mind of distractions and listen to whatever God may give you. Then post whatever comes to mind in the comment section. There are no right or wrong answers.

The young, busy and restless enjoy the adventure of the sunny season of life without thought or preparation of hardship. The elder, in love and mercy, prepares for the inevitable and gracious provision is stored up for the season of suffering when it arrives. It is available for all who come and simply, humbly ask for it.

This faithful man reminds me of the ant that stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. Others may be too busy, elderly, or lazy but here he is helping those that will not or cannot help themselves!

The kingdom of God is like an old man who chops wood in the summer to help his neighbors survive the winter cold�. be prepared for the time is coming and many will not know what to do. But you, you will be ready, for in obedience you took heed to the Word of God and readied your family for the winter storm. Out of love you give from your preparations to those who did not know and were not prepared - with this heart of service you will be blessed as abundantly as you give.

"Well done my good and faithful servant." Here is an older gentleman who is not whiling about his "golden years" by golfing, fishing or skylarking in general. No. He's working. Doing hard work that a lot of young guys wouldn't do chopping wood. And not just a little, but a lot and it's neatly stacked. I see this picture and I hope when I'm his age, I'm chopping spiritual wood and not kicking back and taking it easy. All believers should strive to hear the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."

It is better to give than to receive...
Man, that sure is a lot of wood! What a blessing to have people so generous. He definitely has a reward coming.

We are life givers... look around for opportunities to love your neighbor as yourself. We can be a message bearer of "hope" when the storm comes. Be prepared to give an answer for the hope you have in Christ Jesus. Let everything you do be done for the glory of God...small things to you are big things in the Kingdom.
