Paul’s evangelism in Corinth was like that on a spiritual plane. He tells his friends there, “My preaching wasn’t with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power.”

What does that mean?

One of my daughters asked me to pray for her – she was depressed. I prayed, but didn’t get a breakthrough. Then Clint prayed and God showed him a picture of her with a little stick when God wanted to give her a baseball bat. Then God showed Clint what that meant in her life and Clint prayed that into her. It was exactly right – something lifted off of her; her whole countenance changed. It was a demonstration of power.

I asked Mike and Kristen Shaul about how their ministry in the D.R. is going. They told me about two seven year-old girls who saw God heal them thru the Shauls’ prayers. So now these girls figure they need to be doing the same thing and are praying for everyone in their life to be healed. That’s power.

Yesterday I was talking with some friends about how we need to counter the evolutionists. We need to learn when to stop trying to rebut our antagonists with our wise and persuasive words – that is, our arguments – and give them a demonstration of the awesome power of God that makes mincemeat out of mere words.
