Parable #3: Cats on a porch
This has been an interesting experiment with these visual parables. Here is a picture of a neighbor’s porch – I counted about 30 cats hanging around the house. Again, the idea is to look at the picture and ask the Lord to show you
what the spiritual application is. Post whatever comes to mind in the
comment section.

The kingdom of God is like a group of cats living on a porch passively waiting to be fed by their master, at the same time, in the same place, day after day. Christ desires that we move out of the passive mundane routine getting what suffices for sustenance and remember what we were created to do: run, hunt, seek, explore. Food offered at the door of the house was once new, exciting, even relieving to discover…but it has run its course.
Christ desires to show us new things and push us out of the rote expectation that “barely getting by” isn’t enough and will eventually turn us into fat, lazy Christians who have lost all sense of instinct, intuition and knowledge of how to overcome the dangers and challenges of this world.
Get off the porch, therefore, and follow Christ into new wilderness. Regain passion, relearn the skills that once made you formidable, get out of the mode of reliance and take action, control and trust that God will provide.
Looks to me like the group is just sitting. as god’s children we should be out seeking to save. I fell like that some of us christians just sit back and let others do the work.
Cats…even alley cats who are not taken care of should be fed. They wander looking for food and special care. Those who aren’t God’s children spiritually are still his children by creation. They too, need to be taken care of.
I watched a cat in the window this morning, he was a dreamer. Most cat’s are, especially house cats, that may not leave the confines of a house for years. Often when those cats that get out into the very place they dreamed of going while staring out the window, they are frightened and return immediatly. Many of us are housetrained. Taught that the risks are too great and the odds to small. Though we may travel physically, our hearts and minds never explore the possibilities of our dreams. The kingdom of God is like a group of cats living on a porch waiting for the day when lazy porch dreams become a reality. What will it take for that to happen?
The kingdom of God is like a group of cats living on a porch….Everything that we need in essence is provided. However, we must all accept that our needs are not the only focus of the ultimate purpose of life. We can only live as we can…we can only hope that all are living up to what they are meant to do…
So instead of having the first cats spayed and neutered, you allowed the cats to breed until they became a nusance to YOU, then you had them killed (that’s what “shelters” do, you know). Hope God doesn’t feel the same about our over populations! We must, after all, really annoy him!
The Bible teaches us to take care of animals and that animals have souls. How proud was God when you left your responsibilty on someone else’s doorstep to destroy? You should pray and ask forgiveness for what you have done.

Animals are a responsibilityjust as children are. If you can’t afford them or don’t want them, it is up to YOU to find them homes where they will be loved.
