A prayer I prayed for a few disciples
Last year I engaged in a couple of two month cyber-discipling experiments. It worked pretty well in a limited way. Here is a prayer I prayed for them at one point and then emailed them.
As I prayed
for you individually this morning, the Lord led me to Isaiah 50. It says:
The Master,
God, has given me a well-taught tongue, so I know how to encourage tired
people.
[is that you this morning?]
He wakes me
up in the morning, wakes me up, opens my ears to listen as one ready to take
orders.
[have you listened to God today?]
The Master,
God, opened my ears and I didn’t go back to sleep, didn’t pull the covers over
my head
[how did you do waking up early
today?]
I followed
orders, stood there and took it while they beat me.
[the devil wants to take you out today and will use people to beat you. Resist him!]
I prayed
for you by name what the Lord gave me to pray.
And I wrote out this prayer for you and the seven others I’m in touch with
this morning:
I pray for
those I’m cyber-discipling. Lord, all of
us struggle with distraction issues. We
are distracted by interruptions, by time pressures, by random thoughts, and by
the cold. I pray that you’d enable us to
do as you did when you hovered over the chaos.
You are our Father, we as your children will bring order out of the
chaos of our lives. We control our
schedules, we are not slaves to circumstances.
We will resist the temptation to fall into bad habits.
I pray that
we embrace the truth. Lies have held us
back too long. We resist the enemy in
Jesus’ name. We come against his plan for
compromised, small living. We will not
half-step toward the destiny that you have in store for us.
Lord, we
choose to follow you today. We will be
who you have called us out to be. We
will walk in communion with you. We will
exercise choice about the things that drag us down and dampen our spirit. We choose to make you, Jesus, the focus of
our day. You are our master, our
Lord. You have veto rights over our
schedule. Help us as we go.
Amen

Amen. Circumstances are not our god. God is.
Thank you. This is very timely as I was struggling with distraction this morning at out open air event.
It is a good reminder of how I need to lay down self in the morning and put on Christ – without compromise.
