Are you hungry?
The whole point of this blog is to help you drain the complacency and comfort from your life so that you can experience the abundant life that Jesus promised you as one of his followers.
More than any other society in the history of the world, those of us living in America or other rich Western countries have to struggle to stay dependent on God. Our consumer-oriented culture and our high standards of living push us relentlessly in the opposite direction. Instead of having faith in God, we rely on our regular paychecks and insurance policies.
I have a dream about a generation of young people that throws off this broken heritage and pursues a radically simple and consecrated lifestyle, seeking to live lives where Jesus gets to call the shots instead of each autonomous individual calling his or her own shots.
Some of them are getting it – every now and then I see signs of success that thrill me. Here’s one – a video our team of World Racers just made in Peru.
Inspiring.
Can’t really put it into words but this hit home for me. If we are really going to live a life that is dependant on him does what we have even matter at all. For it says in Matthew 6- “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also….Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”
