OK, better to go ahead and admit it. I’m officially over-the-hill as of today. Yup, I hit the Big 5-0 (cue the scary music in the background). So while I was once the young firebrand, I am now the guy in the cardigan in perpetual danger of succumbing to a comb-over hairstyle who dredges up the same tired stories for my children’s friends to hear.

Maybe there are other ways to turn over a new leaf. Here’s one – I’ve decided to climb on board with the Youtube wave and do a video blog. You can only go so far with print. I don’t know about you, but I always want to know more about the people whose stuff I read. That said, I recorded the attached exchange with Gary Black. We met in Dallas last week and talked about a dream that God has given us – helping our children and their generation get all that God has stored up for them. Tomorrow I’ll share an interview with Gary and then with Andrew Shearman after that.

  • Happy Birthday bro. After turning 50 myself almost 2 years ago, I have the sense and hope that my best years are still ahead of me.

  • Happy Birthday, Seth!! Wow, you’re just getting started, what do you mean “over-the-hill”??? Perhaps just on one of the summits. Good start on the video-blog.
    Blessings! -Diana

  • like the video blog, name’s up. Happy Happy Birthday!!! thanks so much for wanting to get down and dirty so that we can get our inheritance. i love you dad!

  • That’s cool. I am excited about the videos – it seems more personal. Can’t wait for the DVD & pay-per-view. Will it be Kirk Cameron as the young Seth Barnes?
    Happy B-Day!!!

  • Happy Birthday Seth!!! I liked your use of giving our children more than we had in a spiritual context. In post depression generations there has been a desire to give children more, but in a material way, even if at the expense of the Spiritual.

  • Happy Birthday!! I’m very curious to see where it goes with the video blogging. I think the print component is still important though.

  • happy 5-0!! you can’t even tell!! ….but wait, haven’t I already seen a pic of you with a comb-over somewhere?!? …an oldie…maybe during the 80’s?? I’d give you mad props if you’d post it on your own blog. I’m sure tal could hunt one down. 🙂

love the video, you were just getting started! we want more!

  • Happy Birthday. Being over 50 has it’s rewards. Keep up the great work and going youtube is awesome!

yay! look how many people love you! Happy Birthday and the video idea is brilliant … agree about the print thing … I’d probably sit down and WATCH 15 minutes of something rather than READ it for the same amount of time. Plus … we can really HEAR your heart more … which is nice. 🙂

    hope you are blessed today!

  • Hap hap happy BIRTHDAY!

Yeah, love the youtube concept. I believe that it is a definite way to connect on a more personal level with others. It’s kinda like putting a face with the name. Now we can put a voice to the leader. Also, when people actually hear the passion for the nations in your voice, it will be a great motivator!

    Great vision… continued! Blessings

  • Happy birthday, Seth! I did the big 5-0 two years ago, and know for a fact that the adventure continues as long as we are willing to pursue it. I LOVE the video, and feel fortunate to now have a voice (with inflection!) to go with what you share with us here.

  • i suggest shaving the head…now that is radical. that is inheritance…

    i thought you were 48

  • I really like these videos! The last statement got me. “You have to go after it, it is not coming to you.” I see that very clearly with leaving this place I live in. But sometimes it seems a little foggy here in America, yet so true. I can’t just sit here and hope people will watch me and my lifestyle. I need to get after it. I need to get uncomfortable right at home. I have been learning that a lot this year.

  • thanks everyone. i feel blessed to have many of you in my life in one way or another. Tara – you will be getting uncomfortable soon, though not at home. Going around the world for a year should provide you with many discomforts from which to learn!
