April 15 – Tax day. It’s a downer of a day in a season when we may have so much that is negative or numbing in our lives already. Our society puts a premium on safety and caution; maybe you feel like the closest you’ll ever get to a real adventure is watching “The Bourne Identity.”

dnaBut here’s the ticket – in spite of all that, you were made for greatness. It may sound ridiculous if your life so far has been ordinary, but I really do believe that – you were made for greatness.

You have got the DNA of God in you. Think about that – what does it mean? One thing is that he wants you to get over yourself and your own hurts and offenses and find someone in your life who needs your encouragement.

Or, maybe you need to find a few orphans to hug and AIDS-infected teenagers to love. Or God may want you to get a few 14 year old Thai prostitutes off the streets.

You’ve read it in Scripture, but have you felt it in your bones – the fact that you are “more than a conqueror”?

You have the mandate of almighty God to go and take dominion of the earth, to take on its greatest problems, and it’s time for you to move beyond self-absorption and wake up to the greatness that comes when you take on God’s agenda – to say Yes to the deposit of God deep inside you.

I’m talking about dying. I’m talking about heroism, because he’s worth it and because this is the only life you’re ever going to have. Sadly, most of my generation are frittering away their chance at greatness. Many of us have undershot the mark and played it safe, focusing on our own needs instead of seeking first his kingdom.

In case you can’t tell, I get fired up about this subject. I get so tired of the accuser of the brethren convincing us that we’re ordinary and can’t make a difference. The truth is, you do anything you set your mind to do if Jesus is in it. If you need a pep talk today, here are are a few:
