Lakeland revival hits the 50-day mark
For whatever reason, my blog on the Lakeland Revival has gotten thousands of views – lots of people are interested in what God is doing down in Florida.
Here’s a new report on the Lakeland Revival in Charisma. Next week, we’ll be sending a group of our World Racers down there to check it out. I’ve asked them to file more first-hand reports.
[04.22.08] Thousands of people longing for a physical or spiritual touch from God are flocking to central Florida for ongoing revival meetings that some have dubbed the “Lakeland Healing Outpouring.”
The services, which are being broadcast live daily on GOD TV to millions of potential viewers, reveal the excitement radiating from this area of the Sunshine State, prompting some people to jump on planes and fly in from across the country and even from abroad.
Todd Bentley, the 32-year-old Canadian healing evangelist with a boyish grin responsible for the meetings, reported on Friday that people’s faith alone has healed them even while they were booking their flights online or boarding planes bound for Lakeland, a city of about 90,000 between Orlando and Tampa along Interstate 4.
The 700-seat sanctuary of host pastor Stephen Strader’s Ignited Church can no longer contain the crowds. More than 1,000 worshipers stood inches apart at Friday night’s service, jamming every aisle and altar area. Their bodies rocked back and forth, and their faces wore peace-filled, lovesick and euphoric expressions.
“We are all shocked that each night a minimum of 60 percent [are] first time [visitors],” Strader said yesterday.

I just saw from Todd Bentley’s ministry website that he’s coming to Sudan and Uganda in August. Well, if the manifestation of the supernatural is “localized” to his person this season, then my friends and I should be expecting a BLAST when he hits town. Could this be that moment we’d looked for? Guess this calls for intense prayers. Please can someone stand with us?
Over time I have seen the devil replace the main thing with something else so that when men should be focused on doing God’s will, they engage in very devious acts and embrace the illusions of worship when they are far away from God. The devil finds a way to cajoule men to flow in emotional blasts and all of that frenzy and yet miss it. That is exactly what is happening. Imagine someone with tatoos all round praying for someone? The only reason I can accept for this ungodly thing is that he was in the world with the tatoos and now they cannot be removed from his body otherwise, this man is a child of the devil and living against God’s Holy Will.
The devil is a resourceful adversary and he will stop at nothing to ruin the church of God. However God will not allow it and the true Gospel of Christ Jesus shall prevail which is holiness and love!
Clearly the revival needs much order, reverence and sound biblical teaching lest demonic forces swoon in and wreak havoc with delusion, fanaticism and error. Perhaps it has already begun, but that does not mean that God was not a part of Lakeland. God starts a thing, it up to man to manage it. This move was accented with too much laughter and bafoonary and not enough intercession. As far as Bentley is concerned, I believe that he is genuinely gifted but immature and untrained-and is now realizing that it takes more than gifts to spearhead and maintain a move of God. We needn’t be too hard on the guy, Samson played around with his minstry until it cost him his life. We all have much to learn to much growing to do. I’d personally steer clear of extra-scriptural revelations. The Body of Christ needs to know what is between Genesis to Revelation. For a great read, check out “A Step Into Deliverance”. It is a riveting autobiography about one pastor’s journey into the deliverance ministry. A real page-turner!!
