Out from the rubble: one pastor’s story

Pastor Jean Claude Belchet was under the rubble for two hours – he couldn’t breathe and thought he was going to die. He made it out, but his wife and two children didn’t. Still, he soldiers on. Here is his harrowing story.

  • “Go through, go through the gates;
    clear the way for the people.
    Build up, build up the highway;
    remove the stones.
    Lift up a standard over the peoples.”
    “…and they will call them
    ‘the holy people, the redeemed of the Lord,’
    and you will be called:
    ‘Sought out, a city not forsaken.’”
    Isaiah 62:10,12

  • “If everybody is looking to God, than the earthquake can be the first step…”

    Powerful. Applicable.

  • “We know that God can do all things…so we rely on Him. No matter what it takes we are still praising the Lord. Whether good things come, whether bad things come–we are still praising God.”

    …”before the earthquake when we’d talk about Jesus with someone they didn’t really believe that there is a God. But after the earthquake people really understood, believed that there is a God….”

    “..we did not die in the earthquake so our task is not done–we have to work to bring change into Haiti–change is transformation and improvement.”

    God is still bringing good out of a horrific situation.

I'm motivated to join God in his global reclamation project. He's on the move, setting his sons and daughters free from their places of captivity. And he's partnering with those of us who have been freed to go and free others.
