Most passion is inert, unharnessed to a dream. We need passion, but it’s not enough. Eventually passion needs to resolve itself into a dream.

And dreams alone are not enough. Dreams are good, but they are a dime a dozen. Lots of people dream of stopping human trafficking, but they won’t commit to helping one trafficking victim.

Too many people with dreams feel self-conscious about expressing passion concerning those dreams.

What’s rare is harnessing hard work and perseverance to one’s passion and dream.

And rarer still are those willing to serve another man’s dream in order to learn what they need to work on their own.

I love to hear about people’s dreams. But what gets really me excited is a dreamer whose passion has carried him or her all the way to a place of commitment.

3 Questions:
  • Do you have a passion – something worth fighting for?
  • Has it blossomed into a dream worth working for?
  • Are you willing to serve someone else’s dream so that you may become equipped to work on your own?

  • LET ME ENCOURAGE YOU. I had a dream to rescue girl’s caught in the sex trade in Manila, Philippines. “But I’m just a teacher and coach” is what kept coming to me. “How could I do this?” I kept asking myself.

So, I made one step at a time:

    1. I visited a ministry in June, 2011 and spent time with them in Manila. I got to know the girls and asked God for more of his heart.

    2. I asked God to continue to break my heart with the things that break his.

    3. I returned to Manila in November, 2011 and spent time with the ministry again and just did what God was telling me to do. We looked for a house.

    4. I took a step and hired our first ever Wipe Every Tear employee in Manila who has a huge heart for trafficked girls.

    5. We just secured our house, and our director and 4 girls move in the first week of February. Man, this kingdom stuff is fun!

    6. I kept reminding myself that God loves our girls more than me and my wife ever could. He knows their needs. I’m just being obedient to take one step after another.

God just keeps bringing people and money my way to make it happen. I already see our second house and more to come!

An orphanage with 100 kids is coming some day. And this is just the beginning!

GO AFTER YOUR DREAM. HE IS A VERY BIG GOD!

  • good post seth. passion that does nothing is dead. dreams that stay dreams leave hope unanswered. i read a lady who said something to the effect, “don’t pray for something you aren’t willing to be the answer to.”

I'm motivated to join God in his global reclamation project. He's on the move, setting his sons and daughters free from their places of captivity. And he's partnering with those of us who have been freed to go and free others.
