peru mountainsIt’s been an interesting trip to Peru – we’ve seen such pain in the faces of the earthquake victims, yet we have a real shot at bringing hope to their situation – we’re leaving the team in a good place. The TV show we’re shooting is off to an amazing start. And it’s all a part of the journey of my life that has intersected at key moments with Peru.

I remember as a student arguing with my friend David Wroughton about the relative merits of a visit to Peru vs. Europe. I extolled the beauty of the Alps and the variety of cultures of Europe, while he declared that Europe has nothing on Peru.

Back in those days, what I didn’t know about the world was a lot. I’d never been to places like Huascaran (pictured at right). Forget the Alps.

Today we’re in the earthquake zone south of Lima with the next World Race team. The Racers are racing from Lima to Chincha. You can read about their adventures here.

We’ve been training them and beginning to shoot our reality TV show. It’s a big gamble. We bought top equipment, got a great director and put a team around him. We knew there was a story to tell.

And wonder of wonders, it’s starting to work. Incredible stuff – millions of dollars donated to the folks and it’s being siphoned off by corrupt government officials. Stay tuned – we’ll bring you the story.

What we’re encountering here in this desperate place has been worth the journey.
