President Bush Talks About the World Race
Last week, former President Bush took a couple of minutes to share the heroic example of World Racer Dave Smith in a speech he gave in Dallas.
Dave served in the marine corps as a team leader who was deployed to Iraq twice. He recovered from PTSD and signed up for the World Race.
In highlighting that experience, President Bush says that he couldn’t be there because “he is in Swaziland…he went from looking down a shotgun to traveling to 11 countries in 11 months building Bible schools, teaching English, math, and science, working in the fields and digging water wells.”

Come on Dave!!! So good brother, proud of you man! Semper Fidelis
Why am I not surprised that you’re the first to comment, Andy? Another war hero responds!
Seth this is great friend.
This is great, Seth! We will use this info to show the impact and reach of the World Race when we speak to our Missions Committee in March about helping to financially support the World Race.
Great idea, Diane!
Awesome! Will they be coming over to visit us in Mozambique?
I don’t think so, Melinda.
For those looking, Dave is brought up at 19:17 and Bush speaks of him til almost 21.
Best line – “He’s an inspiration to our vets and he should be to our fellow Americans”
My son just spent the month with Dave and squad B in Swaziland. I remember him telling me Dave’s story after they finished training camp a few months ago. What an inspiration to my son and us as well to hear his story.
A true hero!!
A great acknowledgement of being “Semper fidelis”.
Initially to country, then to Christ’s kingdom.
This is great news! Too cool for Dave Smith and your ministry!
