billy grahamI still remember when Billy Graham came to speak to our chapel at Wheaton College in 1979. His topic was “The Time is Short.” He emphasized how quickly life passes.
And I think if you were to talk to him now, in the twilight of his life, he would probably say the same thing.
I got a fresh and surprising reminder of that today. I wanted to use the timer on my iphone. When I clicked on it, I discovered that it was still going from the last time I used it.
The timer was still flying along and when I stopped it, it read 981:03:17. That’s 981 hours, or about 41 days!!
All that time, I had just been living my life, but this timer was tabulating the seconds that I can never get back. Wow.
I can’t help asking the questions:
How did I live that time?
Did I live it to the fullest?
What would I have changed?
The time is shorter than we think. How are you redeeming it?
