I agree with fear, and a lifestyle hindering our Hearing the voice of God… I can add a few that I have experienced:
NOT being still and know that He is God.
SIN, uncomfessed (to Him)
A call for Obedience not followed trough.
A Conviction from the Holy Spirit ignored.
JUSTIFICATION: (I deserve better, for sure God would not want me to live like this)
CONFUSION: The enemy clever and in disguise
PEER pressure,
BLINDNESS more than Deafness
DISTRACTION of the WORLD
SURRENDERING long enough to feel better, BUT NOT long enough to HEAR what GOD has to say about the outcome.
and I am sure, there are a few more than I am not thinking about right now.
There is so many ways we can hear GOD’S VOICE, still and small; PRINTED and the letters jump at you out of His Word; and let not forget the numerous “messengers” that do not show up by COINCIDENCE… just GOD-INCIDENCES.
Hope this helps someone,
Struggling to hear God’s voice in NY

“dying with regrets . . . ” Me too (I think). My “signature” sermon this year has been: Love Extravagantly, Live Regretlessly, and Long for Jesus.
I’m praying to be able to live it and not just speak it.
