7 forms of spiritual empowerment

Having set your feet on the path, you may feel confused about direction. You may wonder if perhaps you’ve wandered off the path along the way. God promises us over and over again that he will guide us if we seek him (Prov. 3, Is. 58 are good examples). Perhaps you have a complicated decision to make. You need guidance. You’re asking questions and not coming up with answers. Questions like: “Am I wasting my time in this role that I have agreed to fulfill?” “How much longer do I keep doing this?” “Am I working with the right people?” For you, empowerment may be a sense of peace about a decision you need to make.
And the gifts themselves may take on greater specificity or nuance. For example, God may give you the gift of healing, but you may find that you are particularly motivated and effective when you pray for a certain kind of disease. Some people call this an “anointing.” Whatever it is, it’s God working through you in a specific way.
For others of us, empowerment will work not in an area of strength, but in a place where we feel weak (2 Cor. 12). For example, a young person struggling with discipline may find that the Spirit of Truth makes it easier to do the hard things he wanted to set aside. Whereas in the past he may have felt a sense of complacency or an inability to commit, God may quicken his spirit so that he feels a greater urgency about getting a particular task done. He may find it easier to commit and may feel empowered to throw himself at it in ways that surprise himself and others.
Empowerment finds its manifestation in a number of ways that are subtle. Jesus didn’t give his disciples spiritual gifts, but he did assign them impossible tasks and give them the authority they needed to complete them (Matt. 10). You as a follower of Jesus have that same authority. You may discover that you are empowered to do miraculous things as you step out in faith and use it.
Ultimately our first and greatest source of empowerment is knowing who we are. When Jesus was being put through the spiritual gauntlet by the devil, he found himself tested about who who he was and what God had promised. What a marvelous thing it is to know who God made you to be (here’s a list), to know that he loves you no matter what. That is spiritual empowerment of the highest order.

Thanks Seth. Knowing who we are in Christ is more important than figuring out what we should “do”. One necessarily precedes the other.
Read this twice earlier, Seth, and appreciate the clarity. Will connect with someone nearby to kibbutz with about this & to pray…listen & to tag-team in watching God move. Must check in with a good friend with a good heart. This seeing through a glass darkly compels (finally) to seek out fellow sojourners…ragamuffins to do life with and to look for those God moments, empowerments, pitfalls, and sweetnesses. Shared strength in weakness. Weakness just might be my superpower. What a meaningful way to see it. Thank you.
As always, running this race further back in the pack,
a.
Great insight Seth! Thanks!
Thank you very much for you explainton,it is motivated me
indeed.
I beleive you are talking about ‘religious’ empowerment, not spiritual. Both having a wonderful place, though religious empowerment still holds that God is outside of you and seperate from your whole being. Spiritual empowerment is based on the truth that we are in essence a spark of God – there is no seperation, no external ‘beleif’ is guiding us and supporting us. Its all Within. The difference is – you can stop judging, blaming and making other ‘entities’ responsible for your choices and experiences. This is true empowerment, true personal responsibility and true enlightenment. The essence of Jesus showed us this, but not the religious ‘interpretation’ at all. Kim

I hope I have understood you, and I will give you my own opinion in reference to scripture, not so much on any serious training. I pray it makes more sense than I can express. May God speak to you even better than I can:
As a priest, lay your life before God who created you for His pleasure (Isaiah 43:7) and ask and trust Him to lead all your steps (Proverbs 3:5-6). His agenda of work if far better than your desire (Deuteronomy 32:4). When you ask, you will receive (Matyhew7:7-8); ask that His Spirit may intercede for you so that you are sure that what you are asking for is in line with His will (Romans 8:26). This will enhance your faith, and if you already believe, you will receive(James1:6-8).
Being engulfed in God’s will is the motivation you need.
Be blessed.

* The tool you use is the word of God at all time for the work before you. You must set you self as an example for the flock in hard work, hospitality, family life, faith and interacting with people outside the faith. This is different from the word we preach at the alter. If possible get a business for yourself if your church is small so you can also help the church and members. If the flock see you are there to serve them and influence them as Christ did the will be influenced as well. If you want to have college get friends in young evangelist and pastor who share the word of God and prayers with, who can minister also to the flocks. You must understand that church is a family; hence you much be able to contribute financially to the members in times of need (marriage, burial etc) as the church is there family. You much also guild the member as a watchmen as you are without fear or favour where they are going wrong outside the word of God, you must also have good program and ideals to get the church running as a family. God bless you
