Your achilles heel is the threshold of God’s grace

We all want to receive God’s grace, but no one wants to be in a position where they need it. Something in us wants to be strong for God. We yearn to be independent.
As she traveled the world, it wasn’t her connections or organizational skills that made the difference. Ridderhof had little beyond her sense of conviction. Organizationally she seemed in perpetual disarray. But as she launched out in faith by starting Gospel Recordings, God backed her up time and time again, miraculously providing her with the contacts she needed .
A more recent illustration of the principle is the story of Rick Hoyt, who, despite his disability and with the help of his 58 year-old father Dick, competed in the triathlon competition. I found the video below about it deeply moving.
If God has put a dream on your heart, he’s not looking for you to gather everything you need before you start. He’s just looking for a “Yes” in your spirit and a prayer inviting him to meet you at your point of weakness.

Lord…send your arrow of grace to my Achilles heal…that I might be risen in the likeness of your resurrection!
Oh man. For a dreamer, this sure is motivating.
Thanks for sharing this word of encouragement, Seth!!!
Thanks for the reality check……and the motivation.
yeeeessss…..!!!
I’m definitely sharing right now on FB with my gang. AWESOME!!
Terrific word, Seth. I like that phrase “your achilles heel is the threshold of God’s grace” … He breaks us before He makes us… We have to go down before we can go up. Not just once or twice in our lives, but again and again as He grows us to new levels of maturity… Never fun (who likes to look at the reality of their sin and brokenness?) but always worth it.
May the Lord bless AIM and its partners, the new endeavors even now being birthed so that your next 20 years reap hundredfold rewards in the Kingdom.
Thank you for this, it’s right on time!
oh my – I didn’t see this video until now… funny that I was writing an overdue note to a dear quadraplegic friend I made this summer. That must be a God-thing.
There’s a YES in my spirit and plenty of weakness to do what He’s put in my heart … looking forward to God’s strength pulling me forward!
Wow!!! I was struggling this morning with being at the crossroads between the vision God gave me a year ago and not seeing any progress in reaching the goal. Thanks for this encouraging message!
“He shows up at the point that you’ve smacked up against your limitations.” Never has this been more true than at this point in my life.
Thanks for sharing with us Daddy Seth.
Thanks, Seth. When I was doing consulting work for Promise Keepers we had a chance to feature the Hoyt’s in a significant way and that video touches me each time after seeing it perhaps 50 because of one thing:
The love of the Father.
It’s the relationship our Lord wants with us.
He isn’t chiding, scolding, hitting, screaming grace at us.
Instead He sits quietly and patiently in the corner wondering if we’ll come around and say–“I’m broken”.
He is ready. Our sins and shortcomings never scare Him.
You just have to stop talking and listen to His whispering way and firm hug.
We can’t do a thing to earn more love.
But with gratitude we can at least be honest to the one who knows it all anyway.
Appreciate your heart, friend.
Shalom.
So great the Father’s love for us, who has done for us what we could not.
