My point isn’t to knock “Bill” below – it’s to make a case for the rare people like Chad who will take Jesus at his word and live a life of radical abandon. Our society is making the case for “Bill” loud and clear and many in the church echo it as the de facto “responsible” route to take. So here is an excerpt from an email I wrote to a number of people yesterday.

Question: What kind of response do you think it got? I was looking for a few applications.


Dear Fellow Adventurer,

Looking for purpose and adventure in your life? Here are two
alternatives:

Bill’s
career track

  • College

  • Get a job

  • Get married, settle down

  • Get a house, a mortgage

  • Send the kids to college

  • Retire, consider what could have been
