God comes thru for Alicia

If you’ve been following our efforts to care for Alicia, a young woman in New Orleans, here is the resolution to the issue. Her parents just wrote this to Laura, one of the blog readers who responded with an offer of help. In five days, a few blog readers made a big difference in Alicia’s life. God has got “Alicias” waiting for us in every one of our communities.
Laura,
The Lord has shown his favor on us. We received a call this afternoon from Lifeline Village in Birmingham accepting Alicia. We were so glad to hear the good news. They will counsel Alicia on making a decision on adoption and also continue her meth treatment. After the baby is born, hopes are she will go into a drug rehab for her addiction.
Thanks for the referral for Mercy Ministries. I spoke with them this morning and their home seems to be an ideal place, but Alicia was too close to her due date for their program. They sent me a whole list of other referrals. They were so helpful.
Please pray that the Lord enlighten Alicia, and give her the strength, guidance, and comfort of his presence as she is faced with these real life challenges. A prayer of thanks that the Lord has heard our cries and has provided us with contact like you who ave prayed for us.
Alicia is feeling deep anxiety as she awaits. God bless her.

If you want to track Alicia’s progress further, please check back to this final blog on the subject and Laura and Jen will continue to make updates in the comment section.
On another note, those of you who like to pray, please pray for me today as I speak to a ministry that was split and abused by the person who was supposed to be a steward of the ministry. It amazes me that supposed Jesus-followers can get so far afield from the course of humility and service he prescribed for us, doing things in his name that would make him blanch.

I will pray. Continued prayers for Alicia and for your time with that ministry. It happens way too much and I will never stop being amazed (and grieved) by isuch things wither. I believe great good will come from this and He will give you wisdom.
Praising God and continuing to pray, both for her and her family and for you.
God is continuing to work things out… They found great prices on plane tickets and are flying to Birmingham in a few days. Lorna (Alicia’s mom) mentioned that for 5 years, struggling through these hard times, she and Alicia have felt hopeless and with no one to talk to. She is very grateful for this new community stepping up around them in love and support. How cool is our God that a blog becomes Church! I am in awe what He can do through a few emails and phone calls! Thank you to everyone praying for them and volunteering your hearts to them…
Jennifer,
Alicia’s trip went well. She called yesterday afternon and said it was a very nice place and there was one girl who was as far long pregnant as she was. She is very grateful to have an opportunity to change her life in which she has been very unhappy with in recent months. It will be a new beginning for her
Alicia told me that she very much enjoyed talking with you. She said she had never spoken with anyone that was so open with their past and really admired you for that.
Bless you and your sister. That is so very kind of both of you.
I will get the exact mailing address from Alicia next time I speak to her. I am sure they can accept mail. I will also find out if they can accept calls too. I will let you know next time she calls.
Please continue praying for Alicia, that the Lord guide her and comfort her and she comes to know his unconditional love.
Friends in Christ,
Lorna
I received an email from Alicia’s mom today. Unfortunately, Alicia has made the decision to leave the maternity home and return to her previous relationship. This comes as a deep blow to her parents and they would appreciate prayers.
We who know the grace of God understand that this happens, not just because Alicia made a bad decision, but because she doesn’t know that God offers freedom and joy, a better life for her. All she can see is rules and restrictions right now. She is ultimately being deceived. I would ask you all to intercede for her and for her family. Pray that the moments we got to speak with her would be seeds planted on good soil.
Lorna, Alicia’s mom contacted me today. Alicia has given birth to a 6 lb 6oz baby girl! Alicia remains with her boyfriend and away from her parents or support groups. Please continue praying that the seeds of the kingdom planted in Alicia’s heart would take root and grow. Also the birth was fairly difficult, so please pray for health for both mom and baby. Lorna mentioned that it is a difficult time for her and her husband as well as they have a grandbaby they can’t see. May God’s kingdom come to this family!!!
