I'm at World Race training camp in northern Georgia. My parents drove down to join us from a conference they had attended in North Carolina.
David Jeremiah was their speaker. One of his messages was "God loves you, he always has, and he always will."
I guess those of us who follow Jesus just take that for granted. We've heard it before, so why get worked up about it?
On their ride down here, my parents stopped at a restaurant. They were the only ones that the waitress had to serve. She looked to be about 50 years old and a little weather-worn.
She came to the table ready to take their order. My dad is not normally one for small talk with strangers, but he looked at her and said, "You know, God loves you. He always has, and he always will."
Immediately the woman began to cry. When she regained her composure, she said, "Sixteen years ago, my son was killed. I haven't talked to God since," she said.
It's amazing the power of those simple words. Don't we all long to hear them?
I love hearing that the good news, is still good news!
It really is great. and it inspires me. Because the love of God is so great and profound.
What a beautiful story! I also love David Jeremiah and weekly tape his series about this subject. Brilliant!
Very simple…oh how we miss that so often.
wow. that’s cool.
Seth ur stories r so refreshing
Thanks to the parents that sense the need for encouragement with this waitress. Living alone myself, I often wish someone would call me to see how I’m doing. I’m a caregiver myself, was a nurse for 30yrs, just lost one of my clients I helped for the past 2yrs. I really am enjoying being alone at home, it gives me the opportunity to hear from God more often, but sometimes I wish I had a personal hug to help me through life situations. So thanks to those who sense a need in others, may you be blessed!
Beverly, as someone who also lives alone, I hear your heart. While I cannot do so physically, I am sending you a HUGE HUG virtually…..may God send you those to come alongside you and encourage you with a real one on those days that you need it!!!
Beverly – also a massive HUG from me! I’m far away but I really mean it! May the Lord bless you and send you many hugs on your way – you deserve it! Be Blessed!!!
What a great story and blessing. Thanks to you and your parents for spiritual intuition. We read in 21st Century Science and Health with key to the Scriptures, “Spiritual intuition reveals whatever constitutes and perpetuates harmony, enabling one to do good.”
Love it!!
