bridgejumpAlthough I’ve been blessed to have a number of young men in my life to pour into, I’m always looking for others. The point of discipling is to wake people up to their identity and role in the kingdom of God. I’ve seen that three years of intensive relationship can get a young disciple to a point of self-sufficiency in God. The relationship doesn’t stop after that, it just doesn’t need as much from me as it once did.

Here are a couple of young men who I’m just beginning to mentor: Noe Rivera and Mike Schuerman. Mike and Noe are just finishing a year on the World Race. Both have them are eager to grow and have reached out to me.

Mike will be going to the g42 leadership school in Spain and Noe and is just crazy enough to say yes to leading the squad Karen and I are coaching – the T-squad. He brings a love for discipleship to his role: “I’m
crazy pas
sionate about what God is doing through the World Race, the
lives of Racers, and the people around the world who get blessed
because
of the Race.”

Now, let me pitch you for a second: If you’ve raised your own children and are in an empty nest, please consider finding young people like Mike and Noe to mentor. We’re designed to invest in others that way – it’s so much more fulfilling than a life spent feathering our own nests (and if you’re interested, I’d be happy to help you get started if you get in touch with me).

Here are Mike and Noe having some fun in this video.
