Hope and despair in Haiti
Adam Mcclane said it well: “I was shocked to see that God brought me into the midst of a great humanitarian disaster to show me His glory. Amidst the rubble we found hope. Buried beneath the houses and building was the past. And what remained was people left with nothing but the clothes on their backs. At first it disturbed me, ‘Why aren’t they trying to make a shelter or create something?‘ Because instantly a nation knew that God is their provider, he is their protector, He is their shelter.”

I had seen the link to the video about the rain and avoided it.
I’m not sure how to process that. My mind keeps bringing up the faces and names of all those I met.
My heart just broke a little more.
After getting back from my trip with AIM over a week ago, I completely echo Adam’s statement. God is moving in such incredible ways in and among the people. What seems like the most hopeless of situations is full of faith and hope. The people believe that God will rebuild their city and I believe He is raising up Haiti to be a light to the rest of the world. A people who hav turned to God in praise and thanks in what many others would see as a situation beyond fixing.
I went to help the Haitian people but I never realized how much THEY would help me.
